|
|
We have a number of forms on MyContactForm which are data sensitive. For this reason we host our forms on a SSL site. These forms have autoresponder enabled.
To further protect we have enabled SSL on the forms in form management. With this we assumed that any autoresponse would be sent encrypted and would be fully secure until it reached the recipient.
However, we have now been told by an IT Expert that the autoresponse emails are NOT SECURE at all.
He says (among other things) ..." ......using the SMTP/POP3/IMAP TCP/IP protocols, and these protocols are neither
secure nor safe in any way! Any and every detail out of the data
transported/conveyed IN CLEAR TEXT ....."
Can someone who knows how the autoresponse works in myContactForms with SSL enabled, please advise me on this - it's way outside my skill level.
The main problem as I see it is that the autoresponder sends the inputted data back to the recipient as an email in clear, which is NOT what we want to happen.
Until I have a better understanding of the way the myContactForm handles/processes the email autoresponse I have disabled that function as a safeguard.
Any and all advice here will be much appreciated.
Thanks.

Ron,
This is specifically why the Term of Service prohibit users from sending this type of information. Your account has been suspended. ALL emails are sent in plain text (both the autoresponder and form email). This is not simply with web based forms, but all emails in general (it is a limitation of email). This is why this type on info should be never sent via email. If you delete the offending forms, I will reinstate your account.
