I have a similar issue to others that appears will be fixed in the new release later this month: When I view a single record, all the data is in the correct fields. When I view all data in Excel format, the oldest record drops all data except the e-mail address and replaces it with the second record's data. The data remains one off until around the 70th record, then a garbled record appears, and after that all the records are properly aligned in Excel.

My first question is, if this is addressed in the new release, will the Excel view work with the older data, or will it be a from-now-forward fix?

Second question: Excel finds "unreadable data" when it tries to open a sheet, corrects it, but doesn't tell me where it is. Is it possible to identify the unreadable data, and delete it from the record? Or identify the record, delete the record, and complete a new form?

Thank you.

Unfortunately, the old data will still be wrong. We're are going to push the new release next Tuesday evening (2/19). Data from this point on will be correct.

Another thing that can cause errors with the Excel export (and isn't correctable) is if new questions are added/removed/reordered on an existing form. This tends to jumble up the data exports because it shifts the column locations. If you need to make changes to an existing form that has good data you want to retain, it is recommended to create a copy of the form under the Form Management panel, make the changes you need, and then swap out the new code and start fresh data collection.

Unfortunately, without being able to identify the specific records causing the problem, you wouldn't be able to isolate it and delete it.

Sincerely,

Nick Ladd
